Buy Nothing Day

Yep, I'm for buying nothing on Friday, the black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving). I've never been into this day anyway, never got why it is thought to be such a big deal. I know I'm in minority here , I mean, I really hate shopping, especially in malls. It's been a long while since I was last in a mall. An then, people think that buying is going to help the economy. This is the only place I know in the work where this is such a pervasive argument. Still there seem to be plenty of economies that thrive without their citizens running themselves into debt to the point of no return . So this year I am proudly and publicly supporting the "Buy Nothing Day" campaign. Check it out: Take the Plunge! As the planet starts heating up, maybe it’s time to finally go cold turkey. Take the personal challenge by locking up your debit card, your credit cards, your money clip, and see what it feels like to opt out of consumer culture completely, even if only for 24 hours. Like the millions of people who have done this fast before you, you may be rewarded with a life-changing epiphany. While you’re at it, what better time to point out real alternatives to unbridled consumption – and the climate uncertainty that it entails – by taking your BND spirit to the streets?
