Maryland Heights

This past Sunday we rode the motorcycle to Harpers Ferry and hiked the Maryland heights, a 2h round-trip hike to a rock overlooking the Potomac-Shenandoah confluence, and the village of HF. It was hot, but still a great day for taking in the views. We then walked around HF , and lunch at The Tavern; we both had salads (unmemorable - but maybe I'm unfair, we didn't try the nice pasta dishes on the menu). We the had ice cream (of course!) at a place that served frozen custard (raspberry - yummy!) and hard packed (Tim had the pistachio flavor). The ride back felt long, but it was still beautiful, especially as the sun was setting behind us. We didn't make it to Larriland for strawberry picking (that was the original plan), but we still had time to barbecue a chicken when we got home and have dinner by 10pm. It was a great day. I know I started with the end of the weekend, but the beginning was really exciting. Friday night we went to the Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Featuring T Bone Burnett, at the Merriweather Post pavillion in Columbia. They had Sharon Little as the opening act. She was very good. We had lawn seats we bought right there for half the booth price , and had a picnic dinner before the show started. It was really nice music, most of it we've heard on the album, but some of it (like the Led Zeppelin songs) was new to me at least. It was a great atmosphere. At the end we waited out the traffic at Clyde's by the waterfront, with a crab artichoke dip (very good but the baguette it came with was stale) and beer (Tim) and champagne (me, still celebrating my B'day).
